What is so Challenging about Developing Teams??

Developing teams that work is a challenge to management. Some leaders and managers feel that you can just throw a bunch of people into a room and "POOF" magic and innovation takes place. NOT TRUE!

Choosing team members takes time and careful consideration for success. While creating a team a manager must take into account the basics of;

age stratification

ability levels

responsibility within the organization

background experience

current knowledge of issues and team task

synergistic thought and product innovation

and all of this takes place even before the team is announced!!

Organizations always need leaders -- individuals who can emotionally forge individuals into a committed team focussed on one goal. However, at a certain stage, organizations also need generals -- individuals who balance process and risk in order to maximize the organization's chance for success.
