With team development it starts with the team members. The participants need to have a dream an idea that is clearly seen and fully understood. This dream in organizations must be tangible and just a little out of reach. This dream comes from the people the dream directly effects. Often times we find the dream comes from the Leadership and Management team that has a disconnect from the floor. I encourage the leadership to have their dream : present the dream to the team : allow the team to improve upon the dream : have the team and the leadership synergize the plan. With the implementation of a plan this brings the dream into tangible reality. Keeping the dream out of reach and make many short steps - check the plan for Benchmarks - constantly readjust to keep the dream in reality.
Doing the plan is a challenge, sticking to the plan is where many teams fail to achieve results. This is how teams lose sight of reality and feel that this dream is the new "flavor of the month". Last week leadership had a dream of ____, now it is ______, next week the dream will be _____.
All this does is develop a team of people who do the same practices and behaviors because they know that the dream will change and why change what we are doing if we know that the dream will change next week.
